Barrilaco Park in Mexico City

You are looking for the best parks in Mexico City, but one outside Polanco or Condesa

Nestled among the bustling metropolis of Mexico City, a city known for its colorful street life, historic buildings, and delectable cuisine, are hidden treasures of quiet and natural beauty that frequently escape the conventional tourist itinerary.

Beyond the well-traveled trails through Chapultepec Park and the ancient remains of Teotihuacán, the city has lesser-known green spots that provide peaceful getaways, distinctive flora and fauna, and an insight into local life.

This article highlights three wonderful parks in Mexico City that offer tourists an off-the-beaten-path experience by combining leisure, recreation, and the unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the city's lush, calm nooks.

Parque Bicentenario

The Bicentennial Park was inaugurated in 2010 as part of the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of Mexico's Independence. The park is designed to represent the diversity of the country's ecosystems. Music and cultural festivals are usually held there. The space is huge, ideal for everyone to run and play without any danger.

With a cycle path, workshops, children's games, sports areas, skating rink and more, the park offers a new alternative for family recreation. It is a space recovered after it became known about all the damage that the refinery caused to the environment. It is an example of what can be done to recover the spaces and without a doubt the parks most loved and known by the capital's residents today.

Parque Barrancas de Barrilaco

The Barrancas de Barrilaco Park is excellent for running and walking, and it is unlikely to meet other people while walking.

Hidden among the streets of the sumptuous neighborhood of Lomas de Chapultepec in Mexico City, it is excellent for walking and suitable for the whole family, even your pet.

The area is full of trees and nature making your route cool and shaded. The trails are wide and made of well-graded dirt. There is a children's play space and other amenities. A signature spot where you will forget that you are in the middle of the city!

Parque Cuitláhuac

Cuitláhuac Park is one of the best structured and consistent in the entire eastern part of CDMX. Its virtues end up outweighing its defects and we love having a space this huge and complete in Iztapalapa.

And it is quite large, 145 hectares, compared to the 50 in the Bicentennial Park, or the 10 in the Parque La Mexicana. It has play areas, for concerts, a zoo, so that children can get wet for a while on the weekend and even a racing track for motorcycles, without leaving aside the space for dogs. We couldn't forget it among the best parks in the city.
